Microextraction procedures for preconcentration of Fe (III) in water and food samples prior to colorimetric detection: a comparative study

Abstract Two extraction procedures, namely dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) and based on solidification of floating organic drop (DLLME-SFOD), have been compared for the spectrophotometric determination Fe (III). In both (III) was extracted after complexation with gallic acid in presence cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). Tetrachloroethylene 1-undecanol were used as solvents DLLME DLLME-SFOD, respectively, while acetone dispersing solvents. The effects various experimental parameters (solution pH, concentration ligand CTAB, well nature amount disperser solvents) efficiency investigated. Under optimum conditions, calibration graphs linear range 50.0–650.0 8.0–800.0 μg L −1 detection limits 15.0 5.0 respectively. NaCl, up to 1.0% (w/v) did not impact procedures. analyte good tolerated most concomitant ions. procedures applied standard reference materials real samples recoveries (95.5–99.0%) DLLME-SFOD poor (68.0–82.5%) obtained when applied. analytical figures comparable those listed literature it could be concluded that may considered one best tools preconcentration (III), owing its simplicity, time-saving possibility using conventional laboratories.
